Stringybark Honey: 2025 Champion Honey Tasmania

We’re thrilled that our Stringybark was named 2025 Champion Honey Tasmania at the Royal Tasmanian Fine Food Awards. It won gold in the dark honey class and took home the Champion Honey Trophy.

Stringybark (Eucalyptus obliqua) is a native Tasmanian eucalypt, named for its long, fibrous bark. It grows in deep, well-drained soils from sea level up to around 600 metres, and the tallest trees can reach 90 metres. When it flowers, its branches fill with clusters of creamy white blossoms, and they’re a feast for our bees.

The honey they make is dark, thick and rich, with complex chocolate and espresso notes. It’s a big, bold honey that’s hard to forget.

It’s a proud moment for our family apiary in Westbury. Our honey has been judged gold and silver quality year after year, and in 2022 we won 8 gold medals at these same awards. But being named champion is something special, and we owe it to some very hardworking bees.

Try our Tasmanian Stringybark Honey, available in 250g, 500g, 1kg and 3kg sizes, or discover more from West-Bee Honey.
